Beautiful Tibetan banner presenting the mantra OM MANI PADME HUM. OM MANI PADME HUM is one of the most famous mantras of Buddhism. It is the six-syllable mantra of the Bodhisattva of compassion Avalokiteśvara/ Tchenrezig. Each of its syllables is the bīja, the seed-essence of liberation of each of the domains or reigns of existence, from the paradises of the devas to the hells. It is thus towards the whole universe that the practitioner sends his compassion by reciting the mantra. One can also make the mantra the invocation of the muni (wise man) or Buddha of each of these domains. And again, each of the syllables represents one of the six transcendental virtues, or pāramitās of the thought of mahāyāna, which the practitioner seeks to actualise within himself. This embroidered silk brocade hanging is an excellent piece for a temple, meditation or yoga room. It includes the colourful embroidery of the symbols on brocade and blue backgrounds. A fabric loop allows for easy hanging. Multicoloured fringes hang from the bottom of the banner. Entirely handmade in Nepal.
