Description
Vertical Tibetan prayer flag made of silk. This prayer flag uses a modern silk printing technique. The representation on this flag is SANGYE MENLA or the Medicine Buddha. In this representation, on his left hand is a bowl filled with medicinal substances. According to certain texts, the bowl, carved out of a block of beryl, has twelve sides recalling the twelve great wishes made by Sangye Menla for the good of all beings. He is regarded as the Medicine Buddha because his compassion extends to all suffering of beings. In his right hand, the Buddha holds a stem of arura, a plant considered to be the queen of medicinal plants. Here it is accompanied by representations of auspicious symbols, mantras and prayers to bring its benefits to all beings. The flag also includes side flocks in the 5 traditional colours and also mentioning prayers. The flag has three nylon ribbons to hang securely on a vertical stand.
